Lower heating value
Theoretic quantity of the energy contained in a combustible item, more precisely the "LHV," designates the quantity of
heat given off through combustion by a unit of mass of the product (1kg) in standard conditions.
The higher the LHV, the better the product burns.
The norm 14961-1 being issued informs about the calcul modes of the net calorific value on different basis and of the energy density as received:
- net calorific value on oven-dry biofuel (dry basis, on dry material),
- net calorific value as received (wet biofuel),
- energy density as received (in megawathour (MWh) per unit of apparent volume - apparent volume mass and moisture content are measured or estimated-).
