Wood Moisture Equivalent (WME)

Measuring wood moisture content or wood moisture equivalent for the other non conductive materials

Some Humitest moisture meters are calibrated for wood. These instruments measure wood moisture content (%H2O on the dry weight of wood). In materials other than wood, these moisture meters measure the Wood Moisture Equivalent (%WME). This is the moisture that can be reached by a piece of wood in equilibrium with the measured material. As the critical moisture thresholds of wood are known, measuring the wood moisture equivalent enables the user to establish whether the materials are air dry, limit or damp.

The resistive mode of the Humitest MMS, Survey, Timb and Mini is calibrated from samples of wood that have been weighed and measured before and after dehydration in a tank:

% H2O of dry weigh =
(weight of the wet sample - weight of the dry sample ) / Weight of the dry sample * 100

Measuring Wood Moisture Equivalent can be done with the Humitest MMS, Humitest Survey, Humitest Mini.

Products

Humitest Mini

By contacting its two electrodes, the Humitest Mini measures wood moisture content or the wood moisture equivalent for plaster, concrete, cement...

Humitest Survey

This moisture meter allows to measure both surface moisture by contacting its two electrodes, and dampness detection by radio frequency, without leaving a trace on the surface.
