Moisture meters for on-site diagnosis

Moisture meters for on-site diagnosis
Measuring moisture with a portable moisture meter allows an on-site technical assessment.

Moisture content and capacitance

The capative method allows measuring both the moisture content and the temperature of the measured sample, from the frequency variation in response to the electric signal sent by the moisture meter: the modifications of the electric field caused by material, moisture and temperature bring the pieces of information needed to measure the sample.
The calibration curves take the density of the sample standards into account, and their accurate weighing is a prerequisite for a reliable moisture measurement.
Some material or biomass moisture meters use this principle to measure the moisture content on wet weight and temperature.

Radio frequency moisture detection

The damper the material is, the stronger the signal sent to the receiver of the moisture detector; thus the sub-surface moisture of solid non-conducting materials is detected. This technique is ideal for fragile or easily breakable surfaces, such as wall papers, tiled floors, floorboards or boat hulls.
Some Humitest moisture testers detect moisture at depth by this RF method. The measurement is shown on a digital display synchronised with a colour coded LCD scale.

Measuring moisture and resistance

The water in a material conditions its resistivity. The more there is water, the more the material drives the current. The material moisture content is determined by measuring the resistance between two electrodes: the material water content is proportional to conductance and inversely proportional to resistance.
To measure the material water content, plant a moisture probe with two electrodes pins or rings in the material; thus, the current passes and the moisture meter measures the resistance of the material.

For packed in the bulk matters or materials in bales or piles as well as stored in bags, some moisture testers Humitest allow to measure matter water content at the core of the bale, pile or bag.

Non conducting solid materials moisture

The Humitest Mini moisture tester measures moisture of plaster, moisture of concrete as well as wall dampness. The Humitest Timb moisture tester displays timber moisture content (carpentry, joinery and boarder flooring).
The moisture detector Humitest for textile measures the water content of textiles and fibres thanks to long probes.
The Humitest for round timber and Humitest for wood, hay and straw moisture meters measure instantly the water content on wet mass of logs, round wood and industry.

Grain moisture

The Humitest grain moisture meters measure water content of wheat, water content of coffee, water content of rice as well as cocoa moisture content.

Nota
The Humitest Survey moisture meter uses either radio frequency method or resistive method that are complementary, for a reliable moisture diagnosis.

Recommanded products

Humitest Survey

This moisture meter allows to measure both surface moisture by contacting its two electrodes, and dampness detection by radio frequency, without leaving a trace on the surface.
These two complementary modes allow an enlightened dampness diagnosis.

Humitest for wood, straw and hay

With its hammer probe or special probes, this moisture meter allows to measure water content of round wood, split logs, wood chips, sawdust, pellets, hay, straw and cellulose bales.

Testimonials

"Tracing the origin of a disaster"

"Detecting and measuring moisture in vehicles"

"...optimal moisture to insure the quality of our seeds"

Thermal efficiency and dryness

The thermal performance of a wall depends on its dryness. Before installing an insulation system, dampness of walls is to be removed.
