Textile fibres such as wool, cotton, rayon, flax yarn, jute yarn, hemp yarn, acetate, nylon, polyacrylics, polyester, meet quality requirements. Along their transformation process, moisture content is the main parameter to measure.

Measuring moisture of textile fibres

Fibres moisture content before and after storage as well as within the transformation process is a critical factor.
The physical properties (colours, mechanical resistance…) of natural or synthetic fibres vary depending on their moisture content. For example, excess moisture of cotton induces overheating of the stored material that triggers change of colour.
Conversion costs and final use of fibre, price as well as quality are directly linked to its moisture content.

An on site textile moisture meter

To be able to measure moisture content of fibres precisely, the representativeness of the sample and the reliability of the instrument used for measuring are significant.

Designed for instant and reliable measurements on site, the moisture meter for textile and yarn marketed by Domosystem is calibrated according to the oven dry method.

Fitted with a pin-electrode probe, the Humitest for textile and yarn allows to measure water content and temperature of wool, cotton, rayon, flax yarn, jute yarn, hemp yarn, acetate, nylon, polyacrylics and polyester.

The operational mode is simple.
- The user drives the probe into the yarn or textile,
