Blown ventilation

Airing reconciling indoor air quality and energy efficiency.

Renewing indoor air

New buildings, especially well isolated to the detriment of efficient ventilation, or buildings renovated without taking into account the indoor air quality are typical cases of poor airing.
Mechanical ventilation insures indoor airing in the whole ventilated area. It contributes to the health and comfort of occupants as well as to the thermal efficiency of the treated home or place of living.

Protecting the occupants' health

  • Lower humidity rate

Proper airing avoids excess moisture that furthers mold, dust mite and mushroom growth.
  • Filtered air

Blown mechanical ventilation stops most of the outdoor pollutants (pollens, dust …) thanks to its dust filter. This filter is to be replaced one or several times a year, depending on the environment pollution.
  • Relief air

The unhealthy indoor air is blown out of the premise thanks to a light excess pressure (cellar, flat, house). Unhealthy air is blown out through high openings in moist rooms and ventilation openings in the joinery of the dry rooms.
Mechanical blown ventilation repels radon and knocks out some indoor pollutants (VOC -Volatile Organic Compounds-, particles, pollens, cat and dog allergens…).

Improving the occupants' comfort

  • Homogeneous heat

Hot air goes up. In a properly aired environment, this air won't be stored in height anymore but distributed from floor to ceiling, improving the thermal radiation of the walls.
  • Evacuated smells and pollutants

A contained area favours the accumulation of pollutants and the persistence of bad smells. The blown mechanical ventilation evacuates unhealthy air.
  • Removed nuisances of condensation

The sensation of cold due to a moist atmosphere disappears, as well as the difficulty to concentrate oneself and to do usual tasks because of an unhealthy air.
  • Blown heated air

Outdoor air, exhausted in attic or in elevation, is heated and blown at the highest point of the premise: at the ceiling of the landing of the highest floor of a home, or in the partition wall of a corridor.

Improving the thermal efficiency of the premise

  • Recovered heat stored at the ceiling

Mechanical ventilation improves the energy efficiency of the premise insuring the homogeneous distribution of warm air.
  • Lowered comfort temperature

1°C less is 7% saving in heating, the main energy expense for a home. Comfort feeling depends on the equilibrium between temperature and humidity. With lower humidity, the occupants feel less the cold.
  • Optimised insulation

Proper indoor air limits fall in thermal performance of cold walls resulting from condensation.
  • Adjustable flow rate

The ventilation flow rate can be adjusted by the occupant.

Humidity, temperature and feeling of comfort

Far from fighting against humidity, heating maintains condensation: the hotter the air, the more humidity it can contain.
Moreover, the more humid the air, the more it needs to be heated to get a feeling of comfort.
