Patented dampness treatment

Rehabilitation of semi-subterranean and subterranean places of living

Stopping migrating damp from soil for healthy premises

Patented by Domosystem, the Domosec screen against migrating damp is a moisture treatment to stop capillary absorption from soil moisture.

Subterranean and semi-subterranean walls

Designed for subterranean and semi-subterranean walls, the Domosec hydrophobic screen allows rehabilitation of unhealthy premises. Either for buildings in a catchment environment or basements, this dampness treatment contributes to enable the occupation of premises and to improve the thermal performance of the treated walls.

Dampness treatment in three dimensions

Firstly, the wall beneath the outside ground level is drilled. Then, our bactericide, fungicide and hydrophobic resin is injected into the wall.

The installation of the Domosec screen is conducted in accordance with the terms of patent application 0215236.

Wall drying by evaporation

The water evaporation time from the masonry varies from twelve to eighteen months depending on:
- the thickness of walls,
- the homogeneity of masonry,
- the air permeability of the inner cladding and structure,
- ventilation and heating conditions. Ad hoc ventilation avoids stuffy air and allows moisture evaporation.

Damp check of the treated walls

The effectiveness of the migrating damp treatment is then checked by measuring water content by total mass (up to 5% maximum).
The control method used consists in collecting samples from the treated walls: the sample moisture reacts with calcium carbide, producing acetylene gas, which pressure is converted in water content.

Repairing the coatings

After dampness treatment and damp check, the injection holes are sealed by a contractor (the customer's choice) who follows the terms described below.
Seals, paints and coatings that allow water vapour permeance should be used. Natural lime wash adheres to this principle. The coating is placed according to the requirements of DTU 26.1. The interior finishes (plaster or lime) should not exceed 1.5 cm thick.
